The pace bowler has secured 309 wickets in 71 appearances with an stellar bowling average.
The Australian chair of selectors the selector has confirmed that captain Pat Cummins will have a crucial role in this winter's England-Australia contest.
Rumors had circulated that Cummins might sit out due to a persistent back stress problem that had not yet healed.
Previous updates from the squad suggested no official announcement had been made regarding whether he would play, with the Test matches scheduled to begin on 21 November in Perth.
Bailey expressed that his recovery is on track and felt positive about the likelihood of being involved.
"We know that the clock is ticking and multiple considerations around that, aside from his injury, but other factors as well," Bailey remarked.
"The outlook is good. [We are] really confident that he's going to play a major part. With luck starting in Perth. Should that not happen, we'll adjust."
Previous Setbacks
Cummins was ruled out Australia's limited-overs series against New Zealand and India recently after examinations confirmed a stress reaction in his back.
He has a history of recurring issues, with recurrences in several earlier campaigns forcing him out of multiple domestic campaigns in a limited period.
He emphasized he would be ""aggressive" and "take risks" in his recovery plan to make the squad for the series.
The selector indicated that he did not know if the captain had resumed bowling as part of his rehabilitation but admitted it was "pressing" for him to regain fitness for the opener.
Alternative Arrangements
If he's unavailable, former captain Steve Smith will lead the side.
The talented all-rounder was withdrawn recently from the ODI lineup for their one-day international series against the subcontinent side as a precautionary measure because of discomfort in his torso.
He labeled it as a "slight concern and stated that Green will play in the domestic first-class competition, so will be "ideally positioned to be ready to bowl."
"Extensive planning has gone into building out the plan for him to be available for the initial game as an dual-role player," Bailey explained.
"He was only going to play the starting games anyway. His aggressive style the cricket bat in white-ball cricket, if it causes any delay for a short period, we opted to approach this more conservatively."
